About the Changing of Trees
One of the first winters after I had arrived in Germany, one of the big surprises was that I saw a lot of discarded Christmas trees on the street.
This year, as always, I found a discarded Christmas tree on the street. I pulled it along the street up to the next discarded Christmas tree that I found. And then I exchanged the trees, put the old tree in the new ones’ place and walked away with the new one. I did this again and again every time I came upon another discarded Christmas tree.
